The Bromance Book Club

The Bromance Book Club
by Lyssa Kay Adams

Could reading romance novels save a failing marriage? The Bromance Book Club certainly believes it can! When Gavin's marriage falls apart, his friends swoop in to save him, bringing him into their super secretive book club. The guys, all professional baseball players, have found that reading romance novels helps them understand their wives/girlfriends and become better partners and lovers. Gavin doesn't believe it will help, but realizes he doesn't have much choice if he wants to repair his splintered marriage.

I loved how this book made me think of my own marriage and how I can make it even stronger! I laughed throughout the book and found it so easy to read. The characters are so likable and I loved the brotherhood element. At the end, I was bummed it was over.

In the beginning, I struggled to get into the book because the wife was too stubborn for my liking, but that quickly faded as she lost her resolve.

Anyone who loves romance novels and humor will love this book! I almost feel this is a must read if you're in a relationship! Click the picture above to find "The Bromance Book Club" on Amazon!

Book Signing

What a busy few days! Thursday evening I did a book signing at ChocolaTea in Portage! What a great experience! Today, I had table space at the Plainwell High School craft show! It was a success! I loved getting to meet people and hear what people love to read. I even had a great question asked - what is an author I'd compare myself to! Unfortunately, I didn't really have an answer because I haven't read medical romance books like mine before! I can't wait to get out in the community more!

Next Cover, Book Signing, and a Library

Exciting news today!

1) I donated my book to a local library to have in circulation! That's exciting to be able to say that my book is in a library!

2) I have my first ever book signing scheduled for tomorrow!

3) I heard back from Littmann and got the OK to use my stethoscope on my next cover!

So many blessings headed my way...

Winter Blues

The snow arrived in Michigan.. and brought my mood to a stand still... or something like that... Forget being poetic, I just haven't had any motivation!!! I want to get my novel finished and then I've already got great ideas for 3 more.. But I'm reminding myself to be patient!!!

First Chapter

"The Wish Lists" is currently in production to become an audiobook.  I received the first chapter from the narrator tonight.. and let me tell you - it's amazing! She adds so much warmth and depth to the character of Ellie and I found new ways to love her!  I can't wait until it's done so I can share it with all of you!

Free Download

Now that the book has been out a few weeks, I'm starting to get feedback from people... and they LOVE IT! People are falling in love with Ellie! That's so exciting when I'm done with my current novel, I promise I'll write Ellie a sequel.  I already have a plan for her adventure!!!

"The Wish Lists" is currently a FREE download on Kindle (yesterday and today)!!!

NaNoWriMo

With NaNoWriMo having kicked off, I've been a busy girl. Between trying to get in 2,000 words a day and doing research for my current novel, I've been so busy!!!  And loving every minute of it!

I have to say I'm completely enjoying the feedback from "The Wish Lists" and so scared that my follow up novel won't be loved as much. Even though it's not a sequel, will people find it as awesome?  I don't know. It's definitely got it's own feel and while it's part of the same "series", it moves to it's own beat.

I perfected the cover for the new novel yesterday and I'm quite excited. Waiting to hear back from Littmann to see if I can use my own stethoscope on the over before I can release it officially.

I was also interviewed recently and that went live yesterday: NERD PROBLEMS. Check it out!!!

Lots of love,
JM

Awesome Things Happening

Alright, I finally found that Barnes and Noble have listed my paperback and hardcover for sale on their website! Just another option for readers who may not be a fan of Amazon...

Also, I got some of my author copies in the mail so I finally have a few books to sell to people who don't even like the internet at all...  I have more on order :)

I also decided that as part of my "marketing" campaign aka increasing my social media reach, I should join Pinterest. For so long I've called it the devil because it sucks me in and I could spend hours and hours dreaming about things I can't have or can't make. All in good fun, right???

Alright, only a few more hours until I put aside my work on "Heros Wear Stethoscopes" and being working on a sequel to "The Wish Lists" for National Novel Writers Month (NaNoWriMo) in November...  It's a big deal. The goal to winning is to write a 50,000 word manuscript over the course of the 30 days. Because I don't have that much left of "Heros Wear Stethoscopes" I decided to work on the next book instead... No worries!

Also, tomorrow I can finally submit my application to get back to nursing school. It's LLoooonnnggg overdue to finish my degree!!!

Love,
JM Spade

Are you a writer? Need help with ideas?

I found this amazing website awhile ago, Masterpiece Generator, that can help you craft any part you can imagine for whatever you're working on! With NaNoWriMo starting this week, I thought this would be a great time to get some inspiration or keep you on track when you have a small piece of the puzzle missing!

It's so easy to work. Choose what you're looking for, answer a few questions about it, then it will randomly generate suggestions for you.

I've used it to create secondary character names many times and have fallen in love with it!

Some examples of what it can do for you:

  • Character names
  • Band names
  • Baby names
  • First, Middle, Last names
  • Nicknames
  • Rapper Names
  • Cat names
  • Fantasy Names
  • Blog Names
  • Hero Names
  • Villain Names
  • Foods
  • Houses
  • Streets
  • Towns
  • Countries
  • Business Names
  • Team Names
  • Gaming Tames
  • Titles
  • Characters
  • Dating Profiles
  • Plots
  • Song Lyrics
  • Letters
What have you used it to try???

Kindle Free

Yesterday, I listed "The Wish Lists" for free for the day for Kindle download... and had 83 downloads! I'm so excited about what that means for "The Wish Lists"!! I can't wait to hear what people thing about it and see their ratings!

Learning Curve

With my author copies of my paperback set to arrive sometime this week, let me tell you how much I have learned about the self publishing world!  Okay, not really... But, it's a lot! There is sooo much fine print to everything!!!

I'm having fun marketing "The Wish Lists" but it's hard work! So far everyone that has read it has loved it, but getting reviews is hard work too!

I'm also planning to participate in National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) in November. During this, my goal is to write a 50,000 word manuscript in 1 month!  Eeek!  Now to decide what to write!!!

Welcome

Well, it's official!  I have a blog!

I wrote "The Wish Lists" and published it just a week ago, but I'm already addicted to being an author and everything it involves! I'm so glad to start a blog and hope that I can provide exciting information regarding what I'm up to!

Who is JM Spade?
My day job is working as a nurse. It's a job I've loved since I started it. It impacts my writing 100%. I love to listen to audiobooks and found that I didn't find many book about nurses that weren't too medical!  So I decided to write my own! Now here we are!

I also have twin daughters and a husband. I spend a lot of time with my niece, who lived with us as a baby.  I have two pit-bull mixes at home as well as a fish!

Who are YOU?
Drop me a comment with who you are and how you found me!

Thanks,
JM
